Commandery Players - The Tempest Friday August 7th 2026 7.30 pm

An enchanted island of sorcery, spirits and strange creatures awaits you at the Ansty Commandery in this production of Shakespeare’s much-loved play. Along with the magic are the humans who are stupid servants, treacherous courtiers and innocent lovers, all contributing to a “brave new world” overseen by the ruler Prospero. How he moves from wishing to take revenge on his enemies to being reconciled to them is the subject of the play. 

Enjoy an evening of poetic and comic delights inside the Commandery at Ansty, an Elizabethan banqueting hall built on the site of a medieval hospice. From 6pm. The grounds are available for picnics with a bar selling beer, wine and soft drinks. Performance at 7.30pm.
